Artists Playing Circle Strings Instruments

The Late/Great John Mcgann
Well, you are really onto something ultra cool with this axe- it seems versatile enough to satisfy both the tenor guitar AND octave mando crowd, it's the best of both worlds, the balance between the strings is lovely. I am always looking for that piano-like ring on the wound strings, and it is totally there. the neck/fingerboard/frets all feel great; it really responds nicely to dynamics and tone color changes, can be really sweet or rockin' nasty depending on touch, doesn't compress too early...just a very co-operative instrument. .I think it's the coolest of it's kind out there. GREAT work, Adam!

"There was an unmistakable connection I had with the first Circle String’s guitar I picked up. A few days later I brought that same instrument home. In the 20 years since I started playing, no other instrument has inspired me the way this guitar has. Adam Buchwald’s attention to detail in the instruments he builds is immediately apparent to anyone fortunate enough to pick one up. Every aspect of the guitar- from the detailed inlays to the extraordinary choice in tone woods- comes together to produce an exquisite example of craftsmanship. Within weeks of bringing that first guitar home, designing my second Circle String's guitar was in the works. Adam has been a joy to work with, and he clearly takes great pride and enjoyment in seeing musicians connect with the right instruments."

"The Circle Strings dreadnaught has been a source of inspiration since I started playing it in 2009. It fills any sized room with a deep and resonant sound. In bluegrass ensemble playing, its bottom end holds the band together, while also letting me take powerful leads on top of the hold band. In solo settings, it gives enough power to hold up more than one vocalist. It's a guitar that can support an army while also lending delicate overtones to the most subtle of musics."

For years I’d been wanting a very particular guitar, but nobody seemed to be making it. Adam went “off menu” for me and delivered exactly what I wanted, and more – my Circle Strings “0.5” is a small guitar that defies expectations, with a sweet, deep sound and an easy playability that have made it my go to for gigging and recording.

“This is the finest tenor guitar I've ever played. Beautiful to lookat, a joy to play, and clear, even tone throughout the entire range. A very sweet and focused voice.
I"m thrilled to have this baby in my collection.”

I met Adam Buchwald two years ago at a festival and played a really nice guitar built by Circle Strings. I wanted a companion instrument to go with my slope shoulder dreadnought and Adam built me a great 00 model that sounded great from the first note that I picked on it. Not only is it cosmetically beautiful, but the sound matches the exterior beauty of this instrument. This sunburst gem may be a small instrument but it has a mighty tone! Thanks to Adam and the crew at Circle Strings for making me such a cool blues box. www.adamtraumguitar.com

This is a gem of a guitar. It's fast become my favorite. (Don't tell my Collings.)
It has a sweet, rich tone that I haven't heard elsewhere. For a parlor, the sound is also incredibly full. It's great to record with and perfect to bring on the road.

I have been using one of Adam's dreadnought models for 3 years now, and the guitar is present on at least 10 different records i've produced in that time. This rig is punchy, sweet and responsive. It feels like a good tube amp in the way it responds to attack. I love my Taylor 514 but it has no where near as much boom and low-mids as this bigger box. I guess t's a funny analogy, but every time I play one of Adam's instruments I feel like there is a lot of "headroom" to the instrument. They're tonally complex and balanced at the same time. I hope I get to play many more!

The first note that I played on the tenor guitar that Adam built I knew I had to own it. Aside from the striking simple beauty in it's wood and construction, there is something very special about that instrument and you don't hear that very often. It has opened new doors to what I do creatively. Adam makes some amazing instruments and has been great to work with getting it all dialed in and set up for my needs.

I had never been a fan of most electric mandolins, but I knew I wanted to expand the sound world of 9 Horses for our future projects. Knowing that my needs would be best served by approaching a modern, independent luthier, I sought out Adam Buchwald, whose work I was already a big admirer of. The result was this gorgeous instrument, which plays beautifully and features a bridge single-coil and neck humbucker from Almuse UK. Adam’s idea for making it a fanned-fret instrument has worked out nicely, as it has solved a lot of the usual issues with 5-course instruments. And the cherry sunburst finish on butternut is stunning. I’m looking forward to having Adam’s instrument with me for the rest of my musical journey!

This is a beautifully crafted and extremely playable guitar, with an even sound spectrum. I'm usually biased towards idiosyncratic vintage instruments, but I find I actually wind up using this Circle Strings in the studio quite often, especially for basic tracking.
